Remember the lonely
From CARE Prayer Diary:
Lord, please inspire
churches in every community to reach out to the 1.2 million lonely older people
in the UK, to befriend and support them and to share the truth of the gospel
with them. Amen
Half a million older people go at least 5 days a week
without seeing or speaking to anyone. This can be as bad for someone’s health
as 15 cigarettes a day, worse than obesity and could increase risk of death by
29%. The Office of National Statistics found almost a tenth of people aged 16 to
24 – a figure three times higher than for those 65 and over (the highest
proportion of any age group), were ‘always or often’ lonely.
