Encouragement for older age
I was reading this morning in Isaiah 46 where you find the Lord comparing himself as the living God the one true God to the idols of Babylon, whom his people were tempted to worship and trust. Having reminded them that idols cannot move, cannot speak and cannot save but have to be made and have to be carried (vs 2,6&7) he then reminds them (and us) of the God he is towards his people:
Isaiah 46:3-4 "Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been borne by me from before your birth, carried from the womb; even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.
He is the God who bears us, carries us, made us and will save us from beginning to end. Tremendous encouragement for those of us in older age - but actually of any age!
