Poirot on reading the Bible
David Suchet, the actor who famously plays Agatha Christie's Belgian detective, Poirot, recently completed a project to record the whole of the NIV on audio, available on CD or downloadable. In the course of an interview he expressed his concern about the lack of people reading the Bible and gave this encouragement:
"The Bible is God revealing himself. It's the revelation of how God is revealing Himself through this holy book.... People died for this book – to get it into our language. We forget that the English Bible, which we can pull off a bookshelf, throw in our bags and walk away – this is a big book for which people gave their lives. It survives everything and God reveals himself through it. It's unique. It's the only book in the world where Christ appears."
