News that changes everything!
We're beginning 2 new series this coming Sunday (21st February).
As one aspect of our 5 year Church plan we said that during 2016 we would have a 'Preaching series..to explore various aspects of commitment to Christ and church family'. We begin that series this coming Sunday morning under the title of News that changes everything. Using Paul's letter to the Colossians we want to see how the good news of Jesus Christ really does change everything for those who hear and respond to it in faith. There will be couple of introductory sermons from chapters 1 & 2 and then over the weeks that follow we'll have a detailed look at 3.1-4.6 to see how that good news impacts so many aspects of life in the church, at home, at work and in the world.
Then in the evening we will be looking at John's gospel. Someone has said that arguably the most important question in life is 'Who is Jesus?' . For anyone considering that question, plus the implications of the answer to that question, there is no better book to delve into than John. Towards the end of it, he tells us why he wrote and recorded what he did: Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. (20:30-31)
Much, I hope, for all of us, whoever we are, to learn from and look forward to in these series!
